Things most ‘pastors’ don’t have to think of…
What’s the best way to get the gunk out of the bottom of the tall vases that held the dia de muertos flowers?
I’m opting for soapy water and a paper towel swirled aournd the bottom of the vase with the long searated bread knife. Any other ideas?
Also, here’s good tip for getting the cooked-on soup out of the bottom of your stock pot after feeding your church or somewhat-church-like community. You know those scrapers that come with the Pampered Chef baking stones? (Why, you might ask, do I, the urban abbess, own such a high flauten’ thing? My in-laws lovingly gave it to me for Christmas, back when I liked to pretend that I would cook after I had children. Acutally, they do come in very hand for baking frozen pizza…) Anyway, those plastic scraper things really work great to get the baked on chili off the bottom of the pot.
This is the stuff I do and think about when I’m doing my abbessy thing.

hehe..that’s the truth, most of us would not have to think of cleaning a dia de muertos flower vase.
You can put rice or course salt on the bottom, then add some water and shake and swish.
put a little water in the bottom of the pot and boil it a few minutes, makes it much easier to clean
Try an effervescent denture cleaning tablet. Works for most hard to reach places, if not vinegar should work to get the hard water deposits off, assuming that is what the task is.

Ooooh! Such good tips! I LOVE tips!
Thanks so much!
I like to try a little solution I call “It’s Not There and I Don’t See It.” I think the method is self explanatory.
I’m a full service pastor. I notice dust balls, dirt in vases and theological leaps.
the denture tablet is what I’d try, too.
