quarantine

Eden has the chickenpox. She’s got one in her eye, which can apparently cause “significant problems.” They made her eye glow in the dark at the doctors and her cornea looks okay. A tip for parents: if you kids get the chicken pox there is now and antiviral that significantly reduces the symptoms and the duration. (Not the vacination…just an antiviral.) It’s reduced Eden’s pox by 50% in two doses, andit has stopped the new pox from growing to their full and disgusting size. Kids have to be old enough to swallow pills. Eden prefers her in a mouthful of masticated pineapple. (You wanted to know that, right?)

Right now Rosie is over and all the kids are jumping on the sofa cushions and yelling at the top of thier lungs with glee. (Good for housebound kids, terrible for migraine sufferers.) Rosie just said, “I’m so glad I could come over. I’ve HAD chicken pox AND I’m your best friend, which is JUST PERFECT!”

I couldn’t agree more!

Sometimes the din of kids is just perfect…even for migraines.

actually, if your doctor can find a “compounding pharmacy” they can mix it for you; they just crush the pills and mix it in kid-friendly syrup. Best result if you start within 48 hours of first spot. Saved the day when we had spots at our house…fortunately BOTH girls (3 and 5 at the time)got them at the same time; unfortunately, they broke out on Halloween!
my heart goes out to you all…oatmeal bath is great for itch.
