The Jen Lemen Ticket Fund

Okay, y’all know Jen Lemen right? She’s such a champ. Last year she spent all her free time (and then some) and most of her dough on working with other women to get the Emergent Women’s Leadership Network up and running. Their breakfast at the Emergent Conference last year was a big hit — among men and women — and watered a very thirsty place in our collective souls.

Well this year Jen is scraping together the $200 to get to EC San Diego. She thought she was going to make it by pinching a twenty every now and then from her grocery budget. But then, Dave’s Grandmother began the process of passing on and there were emergency tickets to buy to get the family to her bedside for goodbyes. (V. important, as you can imagine.) So, if we want to see Jen in make it to Emergent to weild her influence, wisdom, and just plain spirit-o-fun, well, then we’ve got to ante up!

I’ve got $50 in Christmas money…who else wants to chip in and get this deserving lass to the big ball game? Here’s how it works:

1) click here to go to a link on one of Jen’s sites that has her paypal account (which she uses to raise money for Lourdes, she-who-was-rescued-from-forced-labor, and Sam little-one-who’s fighting cancer…Saint Jen, I like to call her) and make your donation

2) drop a little line in my comments so that we know which donations in the account are for her Emergent flight. (Your name and the date you made the donation should do the trick, along with any little love note you’d like to pass along.)

We’ll see if this works!

“Up with women…step in time…up with women…step in time”
(Can you guess whose kids got Marry Poppins for Christmas? :-)

I put in $20 so she can get that midwinter break. Now how she’ll find a $200 RT tix, that’s a whole ‘nother adventure.

Great idea Rachelle. I put a post on my blog and left a little something in Jen’s account. Hey, you having a party in the evening during the convention? I’d like to stop by and maybe meet y’all in person.
    Love,
    Karen

$25 from our church. I can also pitch in liquor cabinet donations as well, if fine scotch is an attractive option :-)

Also, Rachelle, your RSS feed is broken. Last Updated Tue, Dec 21 2004 4:12 AM according to Blogger - which might be when you moved to WP.

Nevermind the last post - I just had to unsub and resub to the feed as its address changed and bloglines doesn’t let me edit it. Your RSS feed wasn’t broken, it just moved.

    Rachelle,

I was going to email Jen, but she’s got much bigger things to worry about right now. So here’s my question (if you don’t know can you poinjt me in the direction of somone who might?)

I presume there’s an emergent women’s leaders breakfast or something at SD, but there’s nothing on the emergent convention calendar. There is an option to sign up for a women’s leadership lunch - is that it? The registration website and prtocess absolutely sucks unfortunately, and they managed to throw all the emergent stuff in with the National Pastor’s Convention - so it’s pretty hard to sort out what’s what.

Thanks for getting the Jen goes to SD thing moving.

    Dave,

Here’s my understanding of it…Kelly Bean is offering a Critical Concerns Course on new forms of leadership. It’s not being marketed solely as a “women’s” event (because it’s not) but that makes it harder to find. Also, I think there is going to be a luncheon, but it’s not on the website yet.

I understand there is a bulleting board or a white board or something where they post stuff at the convention. So maybe it will be there, or in the print material.

That’s one of the reasons Jen posted today about Kelly’s course…because it’s so hidden. It’s one of the “optional programs one day prior” so if folks aren’t planning on making it out there on the first they will miss it entirely.

    Hope that helps.

    Rachelle

    Karen,

Yes, Yes, Yes there will be a party for all of us to get face time with each other. More than one of us is stocking our suitcase with the contents of our liquor cabinet/chocolate drawer/wine cellar. Anyone whose intersted can call me on my cell when they get there 206.300.0328. Keep and eye on the bulletin board for blogger gatherings. Oh, and I might be leading a lunch time discussion on neomonastic orders, so keep an eye on the white board for that as well.

    So much Fun!

    R

    Dave,

In case you can’t find it…here’s the link to Kelly’s event. Scroll down to find her, she’s at the end of the Critical Concerns list.

  15. dave paisley Says:

Yeah, I did see that eventually (well hidden, though) and unfortunately I don’t get in ’til Wednesday morning sometime.

I really, really hate the way they set up the registration website (oh, I mentioned that already ;) . If it had been a bit clearer I might have signed up for the CCC. But the extra day might have ben a problem anyway.

I’m also looking forward to meeting as many people from the northwest as possible while there - strange that we’ll probably meet there for the first time although we’re only maybe 25 miles apart…
