Voting Questions

Paul (my husband) recently got a free subscription to Money Magazine. This month the cover has a small picture in the corner. It’s the two presidential candidates facing off. Underneath it says something like “Voting for your Wallet…Wisely.”

Is this really the criteria?

Alicia is getting ready to host a Debate viewing party over at our place this week for ThPM. (6pm, see you then) Her goal is to watch the debate and ask thoughtful questions with her community regarding how to vote. One of the things we are doing to try to keep the party from becoming a mudslinging fest is to pass out some non-partisan thought provoking questions with the cocktail napkins.

Here’s some I thought of:

What matters more, character or policy?

If I strain out the rehtoric, what do I hear each candidate saying about his priorities?

Can one person really lead a nation of this size? Am I voting for one man, or for one man and his cabinet? Does that effect my decision?

How much can the president really do in regards to implimenting policy? Who really has the decision making power? (President? Senate? Supreme Court?) What does this mean about what it means to “lead” as the president? How might that effect my vote?

Okay…Now you give us some good questions. We’ve got a lot of cocktail napkins to type up.

See you at 6pm for Naderitas, Kick Butt Texans, and Purple Hearts (Cocktail concoctions Paul’s made up for the party.) :-)

It would seem that the one who tells you what he thinks and tries to act on what he thinks is the better choice, unless you do not agree with what he thinks.

If the latter is the case then the wishy washy one is just as good and then you do not know what you will get.
