The Life Light

The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one.
Everything was created through him; nothing — not one thing — came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.
The Life-Light was the real thing: every person entering Life he brings into the Light. He was in the world, the world was there through him and yet the world didn’t even notice. He came to his own people, but they didn’t want him. But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves. These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.
This is the first in a series of mini-art things created by the ThPM crew while doing lection divina on passages regarding light.

I sent this posting to Me Ra and Brian Tausend.

I get nervous when I see posts like this that seem to imply that our spirit selves and our body selves are not one and the same being. Repeating the old Greek dichotomy, in other words, that has caused such grief in our world. Worse, implying that the spirit self is somehow more important than our bodily aspect.
I do not deny the reality of the spirit world or our being spiritual beings, but we are beings of body also; we act in and on this world through our bodies. God is real to us in our bodies, or nowhere at all. We are real to God as beings of body, or not at all.
I do not accept that one aspect of us is more important than the other.
